Graphic Design Tip 3

Every Designer's Dilemma

Should I Work for free to gain experience ? or should I charge a fee?

Have you faced or are you facing a similar situation as a designer while starting or career or while in college?

If your answer is yes...!! Then our blog is the right place for you to make the right decision.

Based on a true story
As a Graphic Designer when I started my career I got a call from a company (sorry I'll keep the names confidential). So when I received a call regarding internship for 1 year straight ahead & the CEO of the company saying they totally fell in love with my work. It was the best day of my life. you know that feeling right, being a fresher & thinking you got the right recognization & appreciation. It made f=me feel like I'm on the 9TH HEAVEN.

Until they called me for the interview & what happened there totally changed my decisions for today as well.

When they called for the interview, all went smoothly & they asked if I have any questions & I asked for the stipend. they said in internships they don't pay & sometimes even ask the designer to pay them for teaching & letting them work for them.

That was the exact moment when I felt the slap on my face & I was shocked & left the office without a word. after that day I was always in dilemma, I should have done the job or I shouldn't have. as I had no work no experience.

Then a few months later I finally got a job & it was paid but the pay was less but all mattered to me was to gain experience & it really helped me a lot to kickstart my career.

Conclusion
I'll strongly recommend every designer out there NOT TO WORK FOR FREE AT ANY COST NO MATTER YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE OR NOT.
All you need to do is ask them to pay you if they deny & offer you that it will help you grow your career then ask them the lowest amount of money. Never work for free. always ask something in return. if they're from good brand names then also if not pay then ask at least for a written experience letter & rights to share on social media platforms.

The only thing which helps you is your talent & social media.

How To Take Care Of Designer's Eyes - Health Tip

As I designer we all suffer blurry vision, red eyes, eyes strain, headache, stress, etc. It is a common thing which is faced by every designer's eyes when their eyes get tired from intense use, such as while driving long distances or staring at computer screens and other digital devices.

Eyestrain can be annoying. But it usually isn't serious and goes away once you rest your eyes or take other steps to reduce your eye discomfort. In some cases, signs and symptoms of eyestrain can indicate an underlying eye condition that needs treatment.

Eventually results in a bad mood and makes you less efficient towards work thus failure of fulfilling deadlines.

HOW TO KNOW YOU HAVE EYES STRAIN?
  • Sore, tired, burning or itching eyes
  • Watery or dry eyes
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Headache
  • Sore neck, shoulders or back
  • Increased sensitivity to light
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Feeling that you cannot keep your eyes open
Ever felt the same?

HERE IS HOW TO GET RID OF IT

simply follow the 20- 20 Rule

What's a 20- 20 Rule?

Take adequate breaks in EVERY 20 MINS for 20 SECS
it takes about 20 Secs for your eyes to completely relax. While you’re resting your eyes, it’s also a good idea to get up and grab a drink of water to keep yourself hydrated. If your body is hydrated, your eyes will be as well.
If you wear contact lenses, you may experience worsened symptoms of dryness and irritation. Try giving your eyes a break from time to time by wearing glasses.

Graphic Design Tip 2 (TYPOGRAPHY)

Kerning & Leading often go hand in hand. Both are equally important for graphics as well as typography. It can be a game changer for your artwork.
So next time while working with text, keep in mind to work on both & see the change in your work.

Kerning
kerning is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters.

LEADING
Leading is the process of adjusting the spacing between each line of the text.

Understanding DPI & PPI for Printing

It’s a commonly done mistake sometimes so always remember to use only 300 dpi (Dots Per Inch) when your design is going to get print.

When I was in art school nobody actually ever talked about dpi all we care that time was "use CMYK to print & RGB to digital" but guys correct DPI is as much as important like choosing the right colour, the right font, right canvas size. A good designer can never compromise in literally ANYTHING. It doesn't being a designer is a tough job, all it means is if we follow some simple rules then we can design better & more perfect.

Little about DPI & PPI

These days a term often misused, usually to mean PPI, which stands for Pixels Per Inch. So when someone says they want a photo that is300 dpi they really mean that they want 300 PPI. PPI describes the number of square pixels that show up in an inch of digital screen (usually between 67-300). DPI, on the other hand, is a printing term referring to the number of physical dots of ink in a printed document.

Going little deeper into DPI
Every pixel output is made up of different coloured inks (usually 4-6 colours, although many printers use more now). Because of the small number of colours, the printer needs to be able to mix these inks to make up all the colours of the image. So each pixel of the image is created by a series of tiny dots (you could think of them as sub-pixels).

Going little deeper into PPI
This is the number of pixels per inch in your image. This will affect the print size of your photo and will affect the quality of the output. The way that it will affect the quality of the output is that if there are too few pixels per inch, then the pixels will be very large and you will get a very pixelated image

Graphic Design Tip

Hey everyone here is the small tip
As an experienced graphic designer, it has come to my acknowledgment
that "You Can Design Good Graphics Even Though You Can't hold A Pencil"
is a total myth..!!!

To every designer out there I will strongly recommend to work on your drawing skills before starting Graphic Design as your career. Once you observe everything, every object you will better understand the Physical appearance of the object as well as about the physical properties of the object. which will eventually lead you to a better understanding of how that particular object should be drawn on paper & trust me here everyone once you have mastered it on paper then you will automatically get to know how to do your job done while working on a computer.

You'll start to see the change in your workflow as well as in our outputs.
It will definitely help you work faster & better.
